English is a must in the SAP world as per my experience. Most of SAP training materials are in English. Also most of the examinations for certification are in English. On a different note SAP support speaks in English for fast requests processing even if they can speak other languages.
So yes English is a MUST in the SAP world! It also opens doors for projects all over the world...
